I am teaming up with the best to ever do organization, The Container Store. Over the next couple of months, I am partnering with them on various projects throughout my home. Today, I am revealing my simple refrigerator organization makeover.
I know sometimes getting organized and creating systems can be overwhelming. In my opinion, it goes back to space planning and working with what you have. Then, investing in storage solutions. You will really love the simple storage solutions I received from The Container Store. I think along with planning, these solutions make or break the final system.
The first thing you need to do is empty out the fridge of all things. Next, toss expired and duplicate items. You don’t need two things that are alike or identify them as use-first items. Then, decide what items you buy weekly and need space for no matter what. Don’t forget, now is the time to deep clean the refrigerator and make everything shine as well.
Finally, take measurements of the inside of the fridge and head to The Container Store to purchase some storage solutions. Now, of course, remember to put everything back into the refrigerator before you head out to the store!
The Reveal
Here she is. My Simple Refrigerator.
I am not sure why I call her she, but it turned out beautifully. My husband helped with some space planning items. He requested a breakfast basket. I don’t have one at this time but have room to adjust things as we go. You may have noticed my fridge does not have any labels. This is because I shop based on the grocery list and if it’s a holiday. I like the ability to adjust things as needed.
Instead, I have created zones for certain grocery items.
Door Zone
Let’s start with the door zone – the home to my condiments, large gallon beverages and a bottom shelf that contains specialty sauces and seasoning. This shelf is for lesser-used items.

I can adjust the door as needed for taller items. Here is an example of me using carafes on the bottom shelf. This allows me to make room for large leftovers or maybe a party tray.

Fresh Berries & Leftovers Zone
The very top shelf in the main portion of the refrigerator is currently home to fresh-cut fruit and leftovers. I had to maximize space and because my refrigerator is the standard size I only have three shelves that I can adjust.
The fresh fruit is stored in Greensaver Produce Keepers that keep fruit and vegetables fresher for longer. I personally believe they do a better job than the crisper drawers at the bottom of the fridge. Its all-natural, non-toxic filters trap and absorb ethylene gas, slowing down spoilage. The removable basket on the inside helps promote proper airflow and prevent moisture buildup as well. I can feel comfortable with washing the berries and grapes without them spoiling quickly.

Main Flex Zones
The remaining shelves are organized based on my weekly grocery list. This can vary greatly. Some weeks I am away for work and my husband will meal prep. I left room for the carafes this week, but they can also go on the door to make room for our meal prep containers and leftovers. The refrigerator organization bins really help with keeping things organized and together. This week I grouped dairy, bread, and biscuits together.

I also love the egg holder because you visually see how many are left and the wine holder has sparkling water this week. Next week I can use it for wine or any other big bottle.
